Claude Monet has long been my favorite painter. Today, science supports what artists have always known—that color is deeply connected to emotion. When I finally had the opportunity to visit Monet’s gardens in Giverny, the experience felt deeply personal. As a seascape and water oil painter, I was inspired to create my own interpretation of the lily pad gardens, translating that emotional connection through water and light.
